Anneke Hulstein was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to New Jersey in 1995. From a very early age she showed her artistic abilities at school and always took classes in watercolor, drawing, oil and even sculpture. She also enjoyed teaching children in the arts. After Anneke moved in 1999 to Clearwater, Florida she became member of the Dunedin Fine Art Center. She began painting with pastels with the guidance of Master Pastelist Brooke Allison. She also studied with Albert Handel (Pastel Hall of Fame), Doug Dawson (Master Pastellist) and Debora L. Stewart (Master Pastellist). She especially loves the Florida landscapes. Anneke likes vibrant colors; her European roots are also visible in her work. In addition to landscapes and portraits she recently started to paint abstract expressionist work. “The process of painting is an adventure without preconceived ideas”. Anneke is an award winning pastel artist and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Tampabay. In 2010 Anneke moved to Tarpon Springs and became a member of the Tarpon Springs Art Society and the West Coast Plein Air.
