                           MEET FRANK HIPP

Earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration (1989) from the prestigious Ringling School of Art and Design painting predominately in traditional oil and acrylic mediums. A style that is diverse, with subject matter and techniques that range from Realism to Abstraction. I believe to continue to grow as an artist it is important to learn from the past and replicate the processes and methods. I often see a painting or style that excites me and must research how the artist accomplished it. Then, by doing my own work in that style, I feel that I have “walked a mile in their shoes.”

His artwork has been recognized in many juried exhibitions, most recently in Tarpon Springs Annual “Paint and Photo” Plein Air event. In 2016, a 24x36 ACRYLIC titled “Porch Mirror” was awarded 3rd place. In 2014, earned 2nd place for a 12x16 OIL titled “Brooker Creek Off the Trail” and 2013 Honorable Mention for a 16x20 OIL titled “Howard Park Slide”. For Tarpon Springs Art Association, a 12x16 OIL titled “Bat House” won 2015 Best of Show, and is currently in the permanent collection of Brooker Creek Preserve.

As the current Vice President of Tarpon Springs Art Association, I enjoy volunteering my time teaching art programs to The Boys and Girls Club after school program. “I get a kick out of their enthusiasm as we introduce different art forms to the kids, many of which would never have that creative opportunity at home or school.”

A charter member of Tarpon Art Guild. Established in November 2016 among seven accomplished local artists as a means to advance visual art exposure in Tarpon Springs. “I am confident that our Guild will continue to grow and be the center for Visual Arts within Tarpon Springs as well as northern Pinellas County. With the success and growth of other fine art facilities in the area, I am excited to be part of something special here in Tarpon Springs for years to come.
